Overview

RN with clinical experience in various settings including experience with developing, coordinating, and executing training of clinic staff to ensure clinical compliance in the clinic setting. RN Filling this role will have a special focus on: FH/FHPG Specialty & DNV Clinics requiring a broad base of knowledge in both clinical tasks and regulatory requirements. Key work will include preparing for and leading the initial clinical orientation classes after an employee completes their FHC corporate orientation. Leads efforts to complete OSHA, and other clinic audits required to maintain a up to date (w/ corporate, state, and federal requirements) and safe environment for providers, staff, and patients. Reviews, updates, or creates clinical policy, new letters or other communications related to clinical quality and compliance for the ambulatory clinics. Completes additional clinical orientation or remediation as needed for clinical staff who need additional assistance with a particular clinical skill. Works with the Ambulatory Quality team to plan and execute skills fairs, individual skill check offs, process improvement exercises, deployment of new clinical techniques or devices. Specialties are not limited to but include: Cardiology/CVT, Oncology, Wound Care, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pain, Women’s Health, Uro/Gyn, Infectious Disease, & Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

  1. Uses PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) process and Lean Principles to facilitate QualityFirst activities & other strategic initiatives.
  2. Ensure support positively promotes the Quadruple Aim (Improve patient experience, health populations, care team well-being and cost reductions).
  3. Assures the accuracy and integrity of all data and collection process.
  4. Facilitates and co-leads groups/teams as assigned.
  5. Evaluate clinical team documentation and workflows through observation, process mapping and root cause analysis looking for efficiencies, waste, and removal of barriers to promote care gap closures, patient safety, compliant documentation and infection control standards that maximizes performance and outcomes.
  6. Develop training program for new clinical staff prior to onset of job tasks.
  7. Develop and implement process for clinical staff not meeting desired level of performance as noted in their job description.
  8. Communicate directly with Directors/Managers regarding training needs or quality, compliance issues regarding clinical staff.
  9. Assures quality of care by developing and interpreting clinical staff philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations.
  10. Serves as a resource and consultant for internal clinical quality, clinical compliance, and safety on external publicly reported activities or regulatory requirements.
  11. Analyzes data and processes to identify real or potential concerns. Provides ongoing strategicrecommendations related to training and coaching of providers and groups on program implementation, clinical compliance, and barrier resolution.
  12. Work side by side with providers, staff, and other team members to develop relationship that supports training and implementation of new processes promoting improvement, quality and safety or other key initiatives in the ambulatory setting.
  13. Assist with creating and managing communication plans to ensure providers and staff receive a cohesive message with timely and accurate information required to achieve goals.
  14. Proactively monitors quality in the clinics for clinical compliance and safety to prevent monetary penalties of providers or FirstHealth.
  15. Assists in policy and process review, update and development and ensures that providers and operational teams have the most up to date documentation available.
  16. Help identify practice trends, analyze documentation, and submit appropriate audits, metrics and reporting information for quality, compliance, or improvement initiatives.
  17. Be assessable and serve as an expert as the role relates to clinical quality, safety and compliance and process improvement.
  18. Assists other members of the department with their assignments and projects as required.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in Nursing preferred.
  • Registered Nurse license for NC.
  • Minimum 5 of years of experience in a similar position and/or industry of experience with physician group practice and extensive knowledge of clinic protocols. Experience with EMR software & Microsoft Office applications and experience in data processing.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma preferred.
  • BLS required.
