Clinic Device Nurse
Overview
A clinic device nurse, also known as a cardiac device nurse, is a highly skilled registered nurse who specializes in managing the care of patients with implantable cardiac devices. Should have a knowledge base of cardiovascular care and advanced heart diseases. They should also be skilled in assessment and triage of patients with various conditions and devices.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, manage remote transmissions of devices, monitor device recalls, basic device triage, perform vital signs. This position is responsible for coordinating and maintaining daily operations of the device clinic also maintaining clinic flow and prompt response to patient needs. Clearly document evaluation outcome of visit, including summary of device testing in Epic/Scottcare. Ability to troubleshoot device related issues. Recognize normal vs. abnormal device function. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the heart, cardiac electrophysiology, and rhythm interpretation.
Qualifications
Current Nursing License (RN), BLS & ACLS certification, 5 to 7 years RN experience, 2 to 4 years of PCCU/CCU/ICU/Cath Lab experience or recent 2 to 5 years experience in Device Clinic setting preferred. Advanced medical and cardiology terminology, advanced EKG rhythm interpretation, ability to verbalize and demonstrate knowledge of pacemaker and defibrillator systems, system analysis and measurement, programming and troubleshooting principles. Scottcare/Epic experience strongly desired.
