Clinical Pharmacist - Oncology
Position Summary
The oncology clinical pharmacist collaborates with the medical oncologists, advanced practice providers (APPs), nursing staff, clinical trials and the specialty pharmacy team to ensure appropriate and timely chemotherapy and supportive medication therapy in FirstHealth's state of the art comprehensive cancer center.
Responsibilities
The oncology pharmacist is responsible for accurate verification of medication orders and notification to providers if therapy should be modified due to contraindication, dose adjustment, timing, etc. Oncology pharmacists provide patient education as needed or requested.
Oncology pharmacists oversee the production of hazardous and non-hazardous chemotherapy and supportive medications and supervise technical staff in preparation of these drugs.
The pharmacist monitors patient response and reports adverse drug reactions associated with chemotherapy.
Qualifications
Licensed pharmacist in North Carolina with either BS or PharmD degree from accredited college of pharmacy. Previous oncology experience is required, post-graduate pharmacy training is preferred. Experience with Epic-Beacon is preferred.
