Discharge Medication Specialist � Ambulatory Pharmacy Technician
Position Summary
The Discharge Medication Specialist facilitates a discharge medication service to ensure patients obtain new medication prescriptions prior to leaving the patient care unit within the hospital by coordinating with nursing services, discharge planning, the inpatient pharmacy and FirstHealth Outpatient Pharmacy. General support for the Outpatient Pharmacy during other times.
Responsibilities
Retrieval of new prescriptions, processing and filling the prescriptions in the Outpatient Pharmacy under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, helping distribution of the filled prescriptions to dischaged patients' rooms when needed, coordination of any counseling services at the request of the patient or pharmacist, and collection of payment either in cash or electronically. During times not delivering, will help in the Outpatient Pharmacy with general prescription filling processes.
Qualifications
Required
Registered as a technician with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.
Previous ambulatory pharmacy experience, including third party adjudication/order entry.
Prefferred
Prior use of Rx30 software
Certified as a pharmacy technician through the Pharmacy Technician Board (PTCB) preferred, but if not must be able to attain within 1 year of hire.
Computer skills.
