FirstHealth of the Carolinas is seeking a dedicated and skilled Inpatient ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist to join our team. This role is crucial in ensuring the continuity of care for our cardiac patients by fulfilling inpatient Cardiac Rehab consults, prioritizing patient safety, and facilitating referrals to outpatient Cardiac Rehab programs. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in exercise physiology, experience with cardiac patients, and a commitment to patient education and safety.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill provider-placed inpatient Cardiac Rehab consults to ensure continuity of care.
- Prioritize patient safety and ensure qualifying patients receive referrals to outpatient Cardiac Rehab programs.
- Ambulate and educate hospitalized patients with inpatient Cardiac Rehab consults.
- Assist in the outpatient setting during physician-supervised Cardiac Rehab sessions when needed, especially during times of increased patient census.
- Return to complete inpatient responsibilities after assisting in the outpatient setting.
- Interpret and understand telemetry readings to monitor patient progress and safety.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology required. ACSM Clinical Exercise Physiology and/or CCRP certification preferred. Candidates must obtain ACSM certification within one year of hire if not already certified.
- Experience: Minimum of two years of clinical experience with patients diagnosed with cardiac disease required. At least two years of experience in cardiac disease education preferred.
- Certifications: BLS certification required.
- Skills: Ability to interpret and understand telemetry readings is essential.
