Medical Office Assistant
Overview
Manages the scheduling of patient appointments. Registers new patients and maintains current accurate up to date demographic and insurance information. Verifies insurance eligibility. Uses accurate and appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes. Collects co-payments and posts charges and payments. Reconciles all financial data correctly for end of day and end of month. Processes patient referrals for tests and referrals to specialists.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. One year technical college or certification preferred. Three years' experience in physician office with medical billing experience may be accepted in lieu of formal training. Must have experience in collections and reconciliation in a medical office. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Extensive knowledge of CPT and ICD-10 coding and insurance reimbursement and knowledge of electronic medical records is preferred.
