Hospital Maintenance Engineer
Overview
Qualifications:
The following, or equivalents, are the minimum requirements to perform the essential functions of this position:
Education/formal training/licensure/certification/experience:
High school diploma/GED preferred or quantified equivalent training, plus (1-5) years of training/experience in general building maintenance. Strong knowledge or experience with boilers, chillers, electrical systems, plumbing systems, HVAC systems and building automation is desirable. Must have a valid NC driver’s license with a good driving history.
Additional Skills:
Able to perform a variety of changing duties, able to adhere closely to established standards. Verbal ability is necessary to communicate with workers and other members of hospital staff. Able to interpret technical manuals related to maintenance, blueprints and specifications for installation and maintenance of equipment.
Working Conditions:
Work covers all areas of the hospital and outbuildings. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals/materials. Potential exposure to communicable diseases and/or blood/body fluids. Weekend, holiday and/or rotating shifts may be required when coverage of shift is needed. Inclement weather conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Work involves lifting and carrying objects weighing up to fifty (50) pounds. Climbs, balances, stoops, kneels and crouches to make repairs or installation. Near-visual acuity for reading blueprints and specifications. May be requested to work at any hour of the day in response to emergencies.
