Overview
Working with the volunteer service department of hospice and palliative care program. Employee will be responsible for maintaining statistics in these areas. Will work with volunteers to coordinate patient assignemnts. Will enter new palliative referrals to include explanation of services, scheduling patients, and insurance verification.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting in the coordination of the day-to-day operations of Volunteer Services at hospice to include coordinating volunteers with patient assignments, keeping statistics, and documentation.
- Does initial work-up, EPIC entry, insurance verification and scheduling of palliative care referrals.
- Provides education on palliative care services to patients and their families.
- Accurately maintains statistics for the palliative care program.
- Assists with scheduling/rescheduling existing patients for palliative care clinic.
- Provides front desk coverage to include answering telephone calls, responding to referral sources, and completing paperwork as needed in the palliative care clinic.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate.
- Associate Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Knowledge of computer applications and programs such as Outlook, Word, and Excel required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology/healthcare experience preferred.
- Valid North Carolina driver license.
