Responsibilities
Lab Manager-Cancer Center Job Summary
- Provides on site operational and technical supervision for all laboratory functions to include: Personnel management of all laboratory staff positions; includes interviewing, hiring, orientation, training, coaching, and completing performance evaluations.
- Provides the technical oversight for daily operations including quality control reviews, corrective actions, oversees instrument calibrations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Ensures enrollment in appropriate PT testing, evaluates reports, and initiates any needed corrective actions.
- The supervisor serves as the liaison between the laboratory and medical staff and works with the Administrative and Assistant Director of laboratory services in developing operational and capital budgets, strategic plans, policies, and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal accrediting agencies.
- Ensures the laboratory meets standards of quality as measured by departmental and facility performance improvement processes. Maintains competency in all technical areas of the laboratory including phlebotomy and specimen processing.
- Directs workflows for efficiency of patient throughput. Supports corporate and strategic initiatives for employee engagement and patient satisfaction.
Qualifications
Lab Manager-Cancer Center Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or related science.
- Must be certified by ASCP (or equivalent) and a minimum of five (5) years laboratory experience, with at least two (2) years in a previous management/ leadership role.
