Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nurse
Overview
The WOCN serves as a clinical resource and consultant in the acute care setting to the medical staff, nursing team, other hospital and affiliate personnel and patients in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for patients with ostomies, wounds, fistulae, incontinence, and actual or potential skin breakdown. Utilizes the nursing process to care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients based on current evidenced practice. Functions within the scope of nursing practice as defined by the NC Board of Nursing and First Health of the Carolinas policies and procedures.
BSN required, Master’s preferred
Graduate of accredited program for Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing required.
One year WOCN experience preferred.
