Pharmacy Purchasing Technician
Position Summary
The successful candidate will possess attention to detail required to observe differences in names of closely related pharmaceuticals. The Purchasing Technician must be able to balance high volume workload with deadlines without sacrificing accuracy and demonstrate ability to accomplish additional duties with minimal supervision. Potential risk for possible exposure to communicable diseases. Possible exposure to chemical and cytotoxic agents.
Finger dexterity is required to handle forms, labels and to operate a computer keyboard. Walking, standing, lifting, and moving are constant activities. Must be able to routinely lift cased goods in excess of 40 pounds. Visual acuity is required. Hearing acuity is required for telephone conversations and communications with other employees. Participates in creating a safety culture by optimizing safety at all times. Complies with department and organization safety and infection control measures.
The Pharmacy, Nutrition and Therapeutics Committee and Director of Pharmacy have approved access to medications and related supplies (IV fluids, needles, etc.), which may or may not include access to a secure medication storage area, when such access is necessary to perform the other duties included in this job description. Able to work long and flexible hours. Ensures critical services are provided during inclement weather and disasters.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include daily shelving of the pharmaceutical order, rotating stock in automated dispensing cabinets to minimize expiring pharmaceuticals and gathering stock to be directed to other hospitals.
Qualifications
Experience as a pharmacy technician is required.
Must have PTCB certification
